Today, Dana Cup Hjørring is the most international tournament in the world, where 90% of foreign teams from all over the world participate.
The Dana Cup Hjørring Festival first edition was in 1982.
The first tournament was attended by 222 teams from 12 countries.
Nowadays, more than 1000 teams from more than 40 countries of the world participate in the tournament annually.
At the preliminary stage, teams are divided into groups of 4 or 5 teams, where all teams play in one circle.
A-finals get the first 2 teams from each group.
The rest of the teams play in the B-final.
Games in the final competitions are held on the knock-out basis.
There are penalty kicks in the case of a draw.
In the case of a draw since semi-finals winners are determined additing the short game.
Final-A 1, 2 and 3 place are awarded with prizes and medals.
Two teams which were defeated in the semifinals are awarded with 3rd place.
The best player in each final competition A is awarded a special statuette.
The winners of each group will be awarded with a Dana Cup statuette.
All tournament participants receive memory certificates.
The organizers offer a large pool in the central square of the city, which can be visited free of charge with the Dana Cup Band.
The tournament also offers entertainment centers of the city Fårup Summerland, North Sea Oceanarium – the largest in Scandinavia, Action House – bowling.
